Several years ago I purchased a GeHepa air Purifier from Wal-Mart for about $100. I have some moderate dust mite allergies and, being a college student with roommates, I this was the best option to control the dust. The GE unit was very noisy. I simply assumed that all purifiers were noisy. I assumed that this was something I had to learn to deal with. I'm a light sleeper. After a few days of no sleep with the GE Purifier, I began only to run it when I was gone at class or work. I found the most frustrating part of shopping for an air purifier is a lack decibel rating. I did the research for you - this is the quietest unit on the market. Silent mode really is silent! Low mode is almost inaudible. I would equate the medium mode to sounding like air coming blowing from any AC vent in your home. High mode is noticeable, but hey, it's moving a lot of air on high mode.

I have had my air purifier unit for less than two hours. My husband and I are both heavy smokers, and our home has always reeked of stale cigarette smoke. I swear that after running this unit for about 15 minutes, there was no trace of smoke in the air, nor was there any odor. Whatsoever! I also love the jasmine scent cartridge. It permeated our living area, the kitchen and hallway in about ten minutes, yet it is very light and subtle. I got my Oreck XL Professional Air Purifier as a reconditioned unit through Heartland America, and it was at a huge discount! Can't beat that deal with a stick! I was ready to pay full price, and after experiencing what it does, I would still pay full price if I had no other choice. I would highly recommend this unit for any of my friends/family, and I can't wait to have people over now -- With no more embarrassment about smoking odors.

I've found that the air purifier does everything claimed: captures lots of dust & stuff (which you see every time you clean it), is quiet, and runs on very little electricity. I've owned HEPAs before; they were so noisy I never ran them at their high settings - so they never did much. With this on my allergic wife doesn't react to letting the cat in the house. Very happy with this. I'd prefer to give it four-and-a-half stars - the newer model is better! This air purifier emits "ozone". Ozone is an inherently unstable molecule. Its chemical formula is O3, making it quickly degenerate to O2 and an extra "O"....that extra "O" that is formed is a free radical my friends. Free radicals are not something to kid around with...they are what "antioxidants" are meant to clean up. Yes, there is ozone layer which protects us from UV rays, but guesses what, no one is breathing it! The main place you will find breathable ozone is where? Oh Yeah, in air pollution!

After I received the air purifier unit I turned it on in the bedroom. Within a short time, the bedroom had a fresh air smell to it. Today, I put it in the kitchen and the kitchen and large TV room and dining room all smelled like fresh air. I ordered two more units today. I was amazed at the good job it does. I have a small room that I share with my room mate is a 2 bedroom apartment, but anyway. it doesn't clear the "smoke" scent from the whole house but it keeps my room smelling great and that's all that matters to me.I've wanted an ionic air purifier for years since I saw the first commercial for the ionic breeze. The technology works. But being an engineer, I also know the technology is simple, and all of these units are actually very inexpensive to make. So I've always refused to pay the overblown prices of the ionic breeze and most of its competitors.

I'm using the air purifier for the baby's room. Thus far, it has performed very well. I especially like the fact that the filters don't need to be repurchased. Approximately a month or so of usage, I simply take the filters out and clean them. The air purifier product offers good quality for a very attractive price. I got this with a bit of skepticism but having used the product for a number of months now, I can say that it has removed it's fair share of air borne particles. While this is not something you should get if you want really complete filtering, it is perfect for those who want measurable improvement in the air. Its washable filters are just one of many convenient features that would make it a hard deal to pass up.
